HOME REMODELING FAQ’S (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)
At Lincoln Household Services, we take the time to explain the details about the home remodeling services you request. We answer all of your questions politely and explain our estimates for your home improvement project to your satisfaction.
Because we believe an educated consumer is our best customer, we’ve provided this page of Common Questions for your benefit.
What is included with a free remodeling estimate?
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: Our free remodeling estimates include a detailed written scope of work. At times, when necessary or when requested, we will provide renderings for you to view what your remodel will look like completed. Renderings look like a picture of your home and are a likeness of what your remodel will look like so you can visualize the space to be remodeled.
Will I need to pay for a design agreement?
Most kitchen and bathroom remodels are contracted without a design agreement. Design agreements are most typically used for major renovations of multiple rooms (such as a whole house remodel) or home addition projects.
What is the difference between an estimate and a design agreement?
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: An estimate is free and is an educated price that is prepared for your project. If you are completing a major renovation (such as a whole house remodel or addition), the price is for the entire project. The price of the project may fluctuate as you move through the process of design.
A design agreement means you have selected Lincoln Household Services as your builder but you are not quite sure yet on the design you want to build. The agreement is for the design portion only so you can come to an agreement of the design and final project price prior to signing a contract for the full contract amount.
If I sign a design agreement, do I get to keep the design if I decide not to build the project with Lincoln Household Services?
No, you will not be able to keep a set of the design plans until we have mutually agreed to move forward as your builder. The designs we create are meant for developing your final contract amount with us and they are the first step towards getting your permits, once the design is finalized. They are not a build set which can be distributed for estimates from other contractors. We highly suggest contacting an architect if you are looking for an architectural build set of plans that you can distribute to contractors to get competitive bids.
How long will my project take?
During our free consultation with you, we will discuss the duration of your project. The key element in completing your project in a timely manner is for you to be available during the process so you can select your products. In addition, we will need full access to your home during the remodel during regular work hours (Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm). We will not begin work on your home until all the materials have been received. Our company policy is to stay on your project until completion once we have started construction.
How much will my construction and remodeling project cost?
Projects vary widely depending on your needs and budget. Our representatives visit with you to better understand your home remodeling needs. At Lincoln Household Services we do more than give you a quote. We provide you with the information you need to make the right decisions for your home.
Our representatives take time to explain the details regarding your project. We answer all of your questions and explain our estimates for your home improvement project.
There is no obligation. Give us some time to review your wish list and we will give you valuable information. We believe that an educated consumer is our best customer!
What types of insurance should a contractor carry?
Contractors should carry at least three types of insurance: California state license, workman’s compensation, and comprehensive general liability (CGL). You should require proof of insurance before allowing a contractor to begin work on your property. We will provide you with proof of our license, general liability, and workers’ compensation forms before we begin work at your home.
Do you use subcontractors?
We employ both subcontractors and hourly employees who are on our payroll. The subcontractors we work with have all worked with us for several years and for most of them, we are their sole source of employment because we are able to keep them busy from one job to the next. They are all licensed and insured, as well as covered under our license and insurance. Our hourly employees are all journeymen which means they are a skilled worker who has successfully completed an official apprenticeship qualification in their trade (ie: electrical, plumbing, tile, etc).
Why should I spend money on new windows?
It’s likely you’re reading about windows for one of the following reasons:
You’re spending a great deal of money on heating or cooling your home
You’re cold when you sit in your favorite chair next to a window
You found out how much your painter is charging to paint each window
You just tried to clean a window
Your neighbor was recently bragging about their new windows
The money you spend on new windows is an investment in comfort, cost savings, and pride of home ownership.
Why do roofing estimates vary so widely?
Roofing costs are heavily weighted to labor and insurance. Generally insurance is the difference. Contractors who don’t have insurance or who have restricted insurance will be less expensive. (For you, this savings may be no savings at all if something goes wrong.)
Will there be a big mess during our project?
Construction is messy. It is dirty and dusty. Before it is beautiful, it is a construction zone. However, we respect your property by laying down clean tarps as needed and cleaning the work space and traffic areas daily.
How do you handle communication with us during our project?
When we visit you for the measurements after the job is awarded, we will give you a schedule we can be held accountable for. Our project manager will communicate the status of your job regularly. Our goal is to answer your questions before you have to ask them.
I’ve worked with unpleasant contractors in the past, what are your workers like?
Long-faced and ill-tempered workers are not allowed on our jobs. You will find everyone who comes into your home to be skilled, friendly and helpful in answering any of your questions.

What Do You Have in Mind?
Our specialties include:
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: In the hottest housing markets, springing for a kitchen or bath remodel is a sure-fire investment, often returning more than 100 percent of the cost. If your bathroom is dated or damaged, in need of additional storage space or safety features, or just isn’t meeting your needs, Re-Bath can give you the complete bathroom remodel you need without the headache. We never cover or hide problems. Our exclusive complete bathroom remodel process removes old materials and fixtures and replace them with beautiful options in a wide variety of colors and styles.
Which Countertop Material is better for a Bathroom -- Quartz or Granite?
Both materials are beautiful, strong and durable, and we offer a variety of options in each material at Lincoln Household Services Bath and Kitchen
Most people prefer quartz for their bathroom counters, as it’s often a less-expensive countertop option than granite. Because it never has to be sealed (granite must be sealed yearly), many homeowners prefer the lack of maintenance required with quartz.
When it comes to style, quartz is manufactured, so its appearance can be controlled. You get the exact pattern, texture, and color that you want. Some like the controlled appearance of quartz, while others appreciate the varied, unique look of granite. We’re proud to get our quartz and granite from the helpful team at Pacific Shore Stones.
Bathroom Cabinets: Reface or Replace?
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: Many people are surprised to learn we can usually replace your bathroom cabinets with Waypoint for about the same price as refinishing cabinets. When you replace your cabinets, you also get the benefit of new boxes and drawers with full-extension, soft-close drawer boxes. Made of plywood, these add value to your home.
If you already have the counters you want in your bathroom, refacing is also a great option. With many door styles and finishes to choose from, you can customize your look. We can handle the process quickly, with minimal disruption.
We are licensed and insured bathroom remodeling contractors. Our focus and expertise is on completely gutting the existing bathroom, down to the studs, ceiling strapping and sub-floor and rebuilding it. We, generally, do not perform partial remodels. Our scope of work includes gutting the existing bathroom, plumbing and electrical services, carpentry, plastering, tiling and fixture installation. As part of our bathroom remodeling services, we perform tub to shower conversions. Basement bathroom building/expansions are not included in our work profile.
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: Our proposals are in writing and contain step-by-step descriptions of the work to be performed. We include the cost of rough materials, building permits, debris removal and all labor costs. The homeowner purchases the finished products, which they select from a retailer of their choice. We do not subscribe to the practice of making money from the cost of materials. We do inform our customers how much to buy of each item and suggest retailers that have a good reputation for the products being purchased.
Since we specialize in bathroom remodeling, it is unlikely that costly surprises will be encountered once we start your project. We take pride in completing our work, on budget!
A quality Bathroom Remodel involves skills, craftsmanship and materials that differ from Kitchens and other dry locations within a home. We follow the time proven practices of our craft to ensure a sound bathroom remodel. When reviewing contractor services, compare the materials and methods to be used. You should educate yourself on best practices. Just because someone can put up tile does not mean it will be done right for a bathroom.
So, you’ve decided to hire a professional bathroom remodeling contractor-smart move. While a bathroom remodel is conceivably a DIY job, the complexity of this job means that hiring a pro isn’t such a bad idea. Because difficult operations (electrical, tiling, plumbing, etc.) are involved, you save yourself a load of misery and time by hiring a contractor. What’s involved in this process?
They Aren’t Necessarily Bathroom Designers:
Some bathroom remodeling contractors are full-scale operations, inclusive of everything that has to do with renovating a bathroom. They take care of you, from initial design to the very last towel bar that gets screwed into the wall. But other bathroom remodeling contractors want you to come into the project with a bathroom design plan for them to execute.
You’ll Save Money by Supplying Your Own Materials:
No, this doesn’t mean buying stacks of Sheetrock for the contractor to use. But most bathroom remodeling contractors are perfectly fine with you buying the more decorative (and expensive) items on your own, such as towel bars, toilets, light fixtures, mirrors, etc. Keep in mind that every item that the contractor purchases gets his or her commission tacked onto it.
What About Tight Schedules?
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: It’s a terrible thing to do without a bathroom. Even if you have a spare bathroom to use while one is being remodeled, you won’t want the remodeling company tramping through your house for the next six months. Better bathroom remodeling contractors can promise tight, well-orchestrated time frames. We use the word promise lightly because no contractor in his or her right mind can truly guarantee this.
The Process, in a Nutshell
Design Stage: Even if this is just a simple bathroom remodel, some kind of design or planning must take place. Contractor-designed bathroom remodels may follow any number of tried-and-true template designs.
Demolition Stage: Is this a complete tear-out and replace project? Then the contractor will arrange for a roll-off dumpster or hauling company to cart away the mess. Even for more minor projects, some kind of demolition will take place.
Roughing-In Stage: Plumbing and electrical are of key importance in any bathroom remodel. The plumbers and electricians will rough-in their work. An inspection is made by the city or county officials at this point.
Installation of Shower/Bath/Toilet Stage: The bathtub or shower are built or installed in accordance with the rough-in. Bathroom sink and toilet, too, are installed.
Final Pieces: Bathroom flooring is laid. Walls are closed up, and another inspection is made. Bathroom cabinets are put in. Walls are painted. Fixtures are installed.

Selections. We help you match everything, so the tile, tub, vanities, water technology and everything else all complement each other beautifully. Everything else? We carry decorative door knobs and other fancy bathroom accessories.
Budget. We work with you to establish a budget and then create a unique design to that budget. Since we are both the supplier and contractor, we know the exact price of each component. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO REMODEL A BATHROOM
Bathroom Remodeling Company near Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs: Beyond materials, a chunk of your bathroom renovation budget will go towards labor. Given the significance of the bathroom, most Omaha Lincoln NE Council Bluffs IA homeowners hire local bathroom contractors to get the job done quickly and efficiently. Sadly, you have to pay for such services.
The labor cost largely depends on the job and contractor. For example, the average labor cost to install a steam shower ranges between $486 and $788. On the other hand, to install new bathroom countertops, many pros charge per hour. Some contractors charge as little as $50/hour and others charge as much as $150/hour. Furthermore, plumbing is a whole new category. Most Omaha Lincoln Council Bluffs plumbers have fixed labor prices ranging from $300 to $1,500 per installation.
Bathroom Renovation Cost Factors
Besides materials and labor, there are other price factors to consider. While you can control some, you can’t control others. Nevertheless, knowing all beforehand will not only help you negotiate, but also help you budget for your upcoming bathroom renovation.
Bathroom Size: Some bathrooms are 40sf and others are 100sf. More often than not, labor and materials depend on the square footage. For example, red oak floors cost as little as $2/sf, but maple wood floors cost as much as $14/sf. Therefore, for just new floors, your bathroom material cost could range from $80 to $1,400.
Bathroom Customizations: Pre-fabricated cabinets cost a lot less than custom cabinets. The same can be said for multiple bathroom materials. If you need to limit the cost to redo your bathroom, keep customizations to a minimum.
Bathroom Trends: Home remodeling trends change every day. Believe it or not, some homeowners actually installed carpet in their bathrooms back in the day. Today, potential buyers would run if they saw that. Moreover, trends vary by city. Therefore, before you remodel your bathroom, ask local realtors what’s hot right now. Even better, go to open houses in your neighborhood and see what they added to their bathrooms. If you plan on selling your home in the next 10 years, it will surely pay to know what hot bathroom aspects are trending.
Bathroom Budget: With any home remodeling project, set a budget and stick to it. If you don’t, you will 100% go over and regret your decision later on. Also, expect surprises, especially if you’re opening walls. As such, include a contingency section in your overall bathroom budget.
Bathroom Project: Certain Omaha Lincoln NE Council Bluffs IA bathroom projects cost a lot less than others. For example, installing counters in Omaha Lincoln NE Council Bluffs IA costs $2,977, while the average cabinet installation cost in Omaha Lincoln NE Council Bluffs IA is $4,767. Clearly, your overall bathroom remodel cost will depend on the project at hand.
Why hire a nearby service pro for a bathroom remodel?
Bathroom remodeling companies help implement changes to overall floor plans in order to make the space more efficient. Where you place the shower, toilet, bathtub and cabinets to correctly fit the entire bathroom space is crucial.
A bathroom remodeling company can solve leaking floors and walls, as well as insulating them from further water damage. Advanced features such as high-tech toilets, modern sink designs and a luxurious bathtub are best installed by remodeling professionals.
How much does bathroom remodeling cost near you?
Most homeowners spend an average of $9,789 on remodeling their bathrooms.
The actual bathroom remodel cost can vary greatly, depending on the specific features.
If you’re only adding essential features, expect to incur between $5,000 to $7,000 on average.
Remodeling larger bathrooms and adding advanced features may cost between $13,000 to $15,000.
Here are three common bathroom remodeling costs:
Installing a new toilet: between $130 to $250 on the lower end, and $550 to $780 on the higher range
Bathtub installation: between $400 to $1,500 on the lower end, and $6,000 to $8,000 for luxurious bathtubs.
Bathroom floors: between $800 to $2,000 for regular flooring, and $5,000 to $7,000 for premium flooring (such as natural stone floors).
The bathroom is one of the most important parts of the home. Therefore, bathroom remodeling is an important decision, one that will also improve the value of a home if done right.
Materials
Material costs can vary wildly depending on the quality and style of the fixtures you choose. To educate yourself on pricing, here are the major expenses you can expect:
• Wall & Floor Tiles: These can range from $3 per square foot for basic ceramic subway or penny tiles to around $15 per square for glass or red clay tiles and over $35 per square foot for top-of-the-line stone or marble tiles. (Money-saving tip: Limit tiling costs by painting direct water-exposed areas with moisture-resistant, high-gloss paint instead.)
• Sink & Vanity: You can buy sink bowls solo or with their own storage vanities. Sink bowls alone run $50-$5,000 and vanities about $250 for a basic option, up to $3,000+ for semi-custom pieces.
• Sink & Shower Fixtures: Basic faucets and showerheads are $40 to $350+. Statement versions (think handheld showerheads and adjustable water settings) can run up to $1,000.
• Bathtub: Standard tubs sell for $600 to $3,000+, depending on the size and finish. Those with bonus features, like hydro jets, cost extra and will add more in plumbing and, possibly, electrical labor costs. (Money-saving tip: Instead of investing in a new tub, have your existing one re-glazed for about $400.)
• Shower Enclosure: A glass door for shower—$350 to $2,000—costs more than a basic curtain, to be sure, but a door won’t require replacing.
• Toilet: Think $150 for a basic tank-and-bowl option to $1,000+ for fancier versions with tanks mounted behind the wall or special features like heated seats, hands-free flushing and seat covers that open and close automatically.
• Medicine Cabinet: These range from $50 for a basic wall-mounted unit that hangs on the surface of the wall to $500+ for space-saving, recessed versions.
• Accessories: Hooks, towel bars, toilet paper holder and the like can be found for $10 to $100+ apiece.
• Lighting: Plan on $25 each for basic flush mounts and up to $500 or more for higher-end pendants and fixtures.
• Extras: If you’re dreaming of radiant floor heating or his-and-her vanities, those will add to your tally. Just weigh your wishes against your budget to decide where to save and where to splurge.
